Oracle and HP Set New World Record One Terabyte TPC-H Benchmark Result

Together, Oracle and HP Hold Top Spots for Performance in the One, Three and 10 TB Categories

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. 08-AUG-2005 Oracle announced today a new TPC-H one terabyte (TB) data warehousing benchmark world record for Oracle(r) Database 10g Release 2 on an HP Integrity Superdome server, outperforming IBM DB2 and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 results. With this new result, Oracle and HP now hold the world records for large-scale data warehousing performance in the TPC-H one and three TB categories. In addition, Oracle and HP hold the world record for the fastest non-clustered result in the TPC-H 10 TB category.
Running on a single HP Integrity Superdome server with 64-bit Intel(r) Itanium(r) 2 1.6 GHz processors with 9MB cache running the HP-UX 11i operating environment, Oracle Database 10g Release 2 achieved world record performance of 68,100.06 QphH@1000GB with a price-performance ratio of $59/QphH@1000GB. Using the same number of processors, this new record overtakes IBM DB2's best TPC-H one terabyte benchmark running on IBM's eServer xSeries 346 by 27 percent.
