Stock Option Trading Electronic Arts has recently been getting the kind of attention they'd probably prefer not to. Word of an impending class action suit against the company began to circulate a short time ago, as it was reported several employees had complained about not getting paid overtime. EA's position is that the employees in question are not eligible for overtime.
Today the Wall Street Journal ran another piece on the subject. In today's article, the authors bring to light that a suit was filed against EA in July by Jamie Kirschenbaum, a former employee at the company who claimed EA neglected to pay overtime to "image production workers."
A software engineer who was let go by EA gained a small amount of fame thanks to a LiveJournal post he made a few days ago describing his own personal situation at work and the culture of the company.
EA didn't address any specifics regarding the litigation it is currently involved with (or will be soon) nor did they directly comment on Mr. Straitiff's accusations. Instead, the company made a statement run in Wall Street Journal article that they offer an excellent benefit package and suggest they are being singled out for problems common to all development houses in the industry.
