Tokyo Stock Exchange Halts Trading Over Computer Overload

Forex Day Trading The halt followed two computer breakdowns during the past three months. The exchange halted all trading for the first time November 1. A malfunction December 8 blocked Mizuho Securities from canceling a mistaken trade in J-Com Co, causing about 40.5 billion yen (HK$2.7 billion) of losses for the brokerage unit of Japan's second-largest bank.

Financial In Market Investors offered to sell 263 million shares of Livedoor, more than a quarter of the total outstanding. The price was 496 yen, 17 percent below Tuesday's close and the lowest permitted under exchange rules. The stock did not trade because investors were not willing to buy enough stock to complete transactions, The Standard reported.
