MBAs to Prepare APEC Study on Internationalizing E-Commerce

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 12, 2004--What does it mean to foreign investment and trade to enable e-commerce across the international markets of the Pacific Rim? Twelve MBAs at the University of Southern California (USC) Marshall School of Business will spend the next seven months researching that challenge for a consortium of CEOs. The executives advise the 21 Heads of State of the Asia Pacific Economic Corporation (APEC).
The MBA project focuses on three areas of study:

Currency Day Trading -- the factors that promote/hinder the development of access to the Internet among potential suppliers and customers of e-commerce goods and services; and

Stock Trading System Established in 1994, APEC formed under a mandate to improve free trade and investment among its members, which include the U.S., China, Japan, Mexico, Korea, Australia and 15 other economies. ABAC, the private sector arm of the trade organization, is due to confer with world leaders in Santiago, Chile, this November 17-19th at the annual CEO Summit.

Marshall School students evaluated the usefulness of information APEC and ABAC currently provides for international business investors and traders and identified improvements that could be made. The research team made their presentation at the ABAC meeting in Bangkok, Thailand.
